SmartEAR®+eH in practical testing at SAUR France

Background
As one of France's leading water suppliers, SAUR has been synonymous with reliable infrastructure and modern network management for decades. In Serres Castet and Sojau, the company was looking for a new solution for precise and continuous leak monitoring—with the aim of detecting water losses at an early stage and being able to respond quickly.

The challenge
Especially in large supply areas with varying soil conditions, early detection of leaks is essential to prevent unnecessary water loss and consequential damage. SAUR wanted to test modern technology under real-world conditions—robust, efficient, and easy to integrate into existing processes.

solution As part of a field test, Johannes König (SebaKMT® Product Management) and Lionel Buisset (Sales France/Belgium) installed several units of the new SmartEAR®+eH system. The focus was on an initial practical test of the advanced device generation under real conditions – directly on the SAUR network. SmartEAR®+eH impresses with its highly sensitive acoustic leak detection, combined with efficient data transmission and easy connection to the POSEYEDON® cloud. The devices can be used flexibly and continuously provide reliable information about the condition of the network.

The result
The tests were successful: the devices delivered meaningful data even in the early field phase and impressed with their ease of use and high measurement accuracy. The reliability of the transmission and the intuitive evaluation via the POSEYEDON® system were particularly praised. A particular highlight: on the day of installation, November 6, 2024, our loggers detected a leak at 12:00 noon using the SmartEAR®+eH. The leak was in a connection with a flow rate of around 300 liters per hour. The system reported a leak probability of 95%, which clearly confirmed the suspicion and enabled targeted intervention. The customer was very satisfied with the solution – further applications in the SAUR network are already being examined.
